Right Side Hinging - An Alternative Putting Method
Video of right side hinging on bottom of page

We greatly prefer that you putt using with the regular Symple Putting method. AS LONG AS YOU'RE DOING WELL WITH SYMPLE PUTTING YOU PROBABLY SHOULDN'T EVEN READ THE REST OF THIS TIP. However we realize that some people prefer a different method of Symple Putting. This is one of those methods that people have come up while experimenting with Symple Putting. It is called "right side hinging". This is an alternative method of Symple Putting. It is NOT a recommended method, it is an alternative method.

Tip for the Right Side Putting (Right Side Hinging)

Some golfers prefer to open their stance and hinge the putter on their right side. This can works well for some people. For others it's uncomfortable. Whether it is because you see the line better (right eye dominant) or because you right hand will not allow you any other way to putt, we have developed a method so you too can Symple Putt with our putter.

To do this you take your 'normal' open stance. Still make sure your feet, hips and shoulders are all on the same line meaning all being open (this is preferred as it will make you more consistent if you check this and do it every time)

To Symple Putt with an Open Stance you will hinge with your right arm and elbow (as a right handed putter) on your right side.

  1. Establish your normal open stance but keep feet, hips and shoulders all parallel (consistent set up is still key to any putting method) with same posture. Eyes or right eye should 'see' the line.

  2. Ball Position is directly down from right hand. Position in relation to foot will be different to each person depending on degree of open stance. But establish where it is for you and make it the same each time that is ball is directly off little toe of right foot or even with mid point of shoe etc.

  3. Hinge your RIGHT ARM against hip, thigh, ribs depending on body type and comfort level. Work on making the same hinge point each time as to develop the consistency desired for creating the same stroke each time. Keep your left arm also 'in' against your ribs, thigh or hip depending on body type and preference. Make the Symple Putting Method as error free as possible by locking down all moving parts and making the only moving parts hands that are holding the club with the right wrist the power source.
  4. Right hand ie wrist does all the work as per the stroke. The left hand is to be used for control of the putter face keeping it square to the arc. Again right hand does the work of powering the stroke while the left hand is responsible for keeping the club face square.

Remember head still, knees still, shoulders still, no weight shift or movement. etc.
